Dead Tree

The southern part of Kruger, close to Malelane Gate. A dead tree, two vultures, and nothing else.

They were doing nothing at all. No kill nearby, no commotion, they simply sat there and stayed sitting for a long time. That is exactly what this frame needed, because there was no hurry and I could take my time working out where I wanted everything. One low and folded in, the other higher with its wings half open, and the branches cutting the frame into pieces.

That white sky is not an edit. It really was like that, overcast and completely flat, which is the weather in which high key happens on its own. With not one tone in the background, what is left is pure graphics: black branches, two birds, white. It does not need anything more.
