Stories
Writing is not about putting words in a row. It is about carrying emotion across, telling a story that lands. Whether it is the disappointment after a DNF, the joy of a podium finish, or the tension before a new season, I catch the experience and translate it into words that work.
I have been writing for rally teams since 2011, from daily Dakar updates to complete communications strategies. I now bring that experience to companies and organisations that need content which genuinely connects with their audience.
Whether it is a rally update after a hard stage, a product launch, or an update to your supporters, a press release has to be sharp. I write copy that journalists pick up, that gets passed on, and that carries your message clearly without the marketing talk.
Newsletters that get read instead of deleted on sight? I write those too. With the right tone, personality and calls to action for your brand.
Experience: Daily Dakar updates for teams, press releases after a race or rally, seasonal newsletters, product launches, event announcements.
Rally teams and rally organisations are the foundation, from daily Dakar updates to a communications strategy for a whole season. Alongside that I write for sports federations, including the Royal Dutch Archery Federation in the run-up to the Olympic Games, and for companies that need content going further than a block of SEO copy.
No. Motorsport is where I learned it, not where it stops. A product launch, a customer story or an interview asks exactly the same thing: get into the subject, find the core, and write it down without the marketing talk.
Both. Rally communications usually run in both directions, so press releases and updates are delivered in Dutch and English.
Whichever you need. Copy only is fine, but I can also send the release to the right newsrooms. In rallying that saves time, because I know those channels anyway.
During a rally or a multi-day raid I work at stage pace: the update goes out while the news is still news. That is exactly what daily Dakar reporting trains you for.
That is usually the practical option. If I am out on the stage anyway, the images and the story come from the same day and you do not have to brief two parties. See Motorsport Action for the photography.
It depends on the scope: a single press release is a different thing from monthly social media management or full coverage of a multi-day event. Tell me what you need and you get a price back, not an hourly-rate surprise afterwards.
Press releases that get picked up. Social media that connects. Stories that stay with people. Let us see what I can do for you.
