The Eye of Tarangire
Tarangire, Tanzania
Zoom in far enough and a whole new world appears.
From a distance you see an elephant. Up close you see a landscape.
Hide cracking open like dry ground, patches that belong to one animal and no other, scratches and scars that were not there when it was born. It is all on them, and most of the time you drive straight past without seeing it.
This collection is what is left when you let go of the whole animal. No head, no eyes, no outline. Just surface, and everything that surface has been through.
